The library/media center is open to study hall students on Days 1, 2, and 3 from 7:45 a.m. until 3:15 p.m, unless the room has been reserved for a class. Students may do school related work on the computers(we have 28 netbooks now!), homework, research, check out books and magazines, or just READ.

It is also open every day after school until the late bus arrives around 3:15. Paraprofessional staff members are on hand to superivise homework.

South's SPRING BOOK FAIR will be run by Scholastic, and will offer many new books, as well as some older favorites. It will take place in the library/media center in late May or early June. Students will bring fair flyers home in early May.

Research Resources

The Research Cycle:

  1. Question: identifying and listing the questions you need to explore
  2. Plan: developing a strategy to find pertinent information rapidly
  3. Gather: getting information which casts light on the key questions
  4. Sort, Sift & Analyze: rearranging the puzzle pieces, make a graphic organizer
  5. Synthesize: making sense of the puzzle pieces - getting the picture
  6. Evaluate: figuring out what's missing, what else is needed
  7. Report: sharing insights persuasively
