DECEMBER LUNCH MENU
We look forward to a great year of feeding nutritious and delicious meals to your children to support them in performing their best in school!
A few new changes to note for the upcoming school year:
CHOCOLATE MILK IS BACK! Chocolate milk will be offered at all lunch meals to all grades this school year.Students who wish to buy a milk to complement a meal from home, and students who wish to buy a second milk to accompany a school meal (which already includes milk) may also purchase chocolate milk. Children will be able to enjoy the great taste of chocolate milk and benefit from the great nutrition milk has to offer.
The price of lunches has changed to $2.25 at the elementary schools and $2.50 at the middle and high schools.
As with last year, Braintree students will be asked to take at least one fruit or vegetable with each lunch meal they take. New this year, Braintree will be participating in the Massachusetts’ Farm to School Harvest of the Month project (http://www.massfarmtoschool.org/). Elementary students can get “I tried it” stickers when they try a featured item, and fruit and vegetable trading cards will be available. For each of the following months, a locally grown fruit or vegetable will be featured. The fresh crops to look for on the menu will be:
February: Winter Squash
Braintree Schools continue to offer breakfasts each morning for students and staff. Breakfasts are $1.00 (or $.30 or free for those who qualify). Breakfast kick starts your child’s brain and gets students ready to learn. This year each student who buys breakfast will need to choose at least one of the fruits or juices that are offered every day as part of the meal. Daily selections include 100% fruit juice, fruit & milk, along with various entrees including scrambled eggs, soft bagels, and tasty cereals.
School meals are a great value and a huge convenience for busy families too! To save you time, payments for meals can be made at www.myschoolbucks.com. Prepayments can also be made with a check made out to Braintree School Food Service or with cash. Payments can also be made on a day to day basis at your child’s cafeteria. Again, please note that that price of lunches has changed to $2.25 at the elementary schools and $2.50 at the middle and high schools.
