guidanceGuidance Philosophy:

Braintree High School offers a developmental guidance curriculum encompassing responsive services that enhance the academic, career, personal, and social growth of all students. Counseling services foster independent decision-making skills and a positive self-image for all students to fulfill their future potentials.

Guidance Department:

Counseling services are available to all students and parents to help in educational, vocational and personal decisions. Each high school student is assigned to the same counselor for four years. Personal conferences, along with small group meetings, are scheduled yearly with each student to discuss student interests, abilities, course selections, educational and vocational opportunities, and personal or social concerns.

A student should feel free to talk with his or her counselor at any time. Parents are also urged to consult with their child's counselor. The counseling department provides informational services and material for students and parents. Materials available include school and college catalogs; employment, vocational, and occupational brochures; and reference booklets to provide information regarding College Board Testing. Additional aids are available in the Career Center. Individual conferences may be scheduled with a student and his or her parents to develop specific plans for the future.

College and employment representatives are scheduled to visit Braintree High School throughout the year to speak with students. The counseling department tries to assist every student in every way possible throughout their high school years.
